Ministry of Business and Trade


The Ministry of Business and Trade (MBT) creates commercial policy for both private and public sectors in order to boost regional and international trade relations and support the development of businesses across the country.
The Ministry maintains four departments and sections:

• Industrial Property Rights Section
• Price Control Section

Vision


The ministry aims to build a system of free trade and sustainable growth within Qatar. With this system, it aims to make Qatar a key player in the international business community.

MBT’s responsibilities and goals include:

Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage

The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage encourages citizens and residents of Qatar to appreciate and participate in the arts.

Vision


The Ministry aims to preserve Qatar’s cultural heritage while promoting freedom of expression and passion for the arts.

Goals

The ministry’s responsibilities and goals include:
• Promote cultural events, such as festivals, poetry recitals, literary competitions, and music and dance performances.
• Manage related departments and sections, including the Heritage Village, Book Loans Section, Indexing and Classification Department, Manuscripts and Conservation Division, Secretariat of the States Acknowledgement and Encouragement Awards and Visual Arts Center.
• Promote Qatari culture abroad.

Ministry of Defence

The Ministry of Defence is responsible for defending the homeland. It leads fighting and support units including:
• Qatar Emiri Land Forces
• Qatar Emiri Air Forces
• Qatar Emiri Navy Forces
• Calibration Center of Qatar Armed Forces
The Qatar Constitution directs and guides the defense strategy.

Vision


Through the use of its fighting capabilities, Qatar Armed Forces’ mission is to defend and protect Qatar’s national supremacy and wealth as well as participate in humanitarian and peacekeeping missions.

Ministry of Economy and Finance

The Ministry of Economy and Finance is responsible for managing government funds. It plays a key role in determining Qatar’s macro-economic policy.

Vision


The ministry believes fiscal responsibility is essential to boosting investor confidence and providing the ideal conditions for sustainable economic growth.

Goals

The Ministry of Economy and Finance’s responsibilities and goals include:
• Propose goals and financial policies according to national development requirements.
• Prepare and carry out the State general budget.
• Collect general revenues – such as taxes and fees – according to the law.
• Develop economic relationships with other countries.
• Propose laws and regulations pertaining to the ministry.
• Oversee the finalization of government annual spending record.
• Supervise the period before budget allocation.
• Analyze financial and economic situations and evaluate Qatar’s taxation policy.
• Prepare and develop financial legislation related to general revenues and expenditures.
• Work with concerned parties in preparing economic and social development plans.
• Supervise the implementation of economic and social development plans.
• Coordinate and cooperate with the Qatar Central Bank to maintain balance between financial and monetary policies.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) plays an important role in strengthening relations between the State of Qatar and other countries. Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning
